What is Point to Point (PTP)
Put simply a PTP connection is a wireless connection between two points using a variety of different radio frequency.
Predominately operating in the 2.4 to 5 GHz (Wi-Fi bands) no license is needed to operate and if on the same property no ongoing costs outside of the initial install. Depending on the quality of connection installs can be as low as $800 or you can chose to purchase one of our pre configured radios and install yourself.
Point to MultiPoint (PMP)
Operating Much like a PTP link, PMPs simply broadcast to multiple locations from one central point.
We see a lot of this for camera solutions on university campuses, councils and even farms, providing connectivity for pump activation, gate monitoring and activation, cattle tagging or just damn level monitoring.
Boost your Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi, a term we used almost daily, yet not a lot fully understand it and some think it’s powered by magical pixies in routers. Truth is although it is a a complex beast Wi-Fi doesn’t have to be a complete mystery!. If poor coverage is something you’re experiencing then read on and maybe we can help.
- Location of your router or access point is critical to performance, physical obstructions like walls, furniture, metal casings or kitchen appliances like microwaves, fridges and ovens. Physical distance is also key as many homes and small business use Telco grade routers that often have poor Wi-Fi straight out of the box.
- Channel can often be overlooked and a easy fix with simple apps like Wi-Fi Analyser on Android. Use a tool like this to check what other networks are broadcasting on the same channel as yours and use the apps recommendation.
- Interference is a big issue especially in dense urban environments where each household has its own network and is close together, baby monitors, walkie talkies, microwaves, poor electrical wiring can all be causes of interference too. Some of this can be fixed by changing channels, others by switching to 5G. Some interference can’t be fixed without professional help.
- Router capacity is often overlooked, cheaper routers don’t have the processing power to provide reliable service to multiple employees, printers, cameras, PoS and devices.
- Try Isolating your Wireless by connecting a ethernet cable directly to the router and trying our speedtest to see any changes in speed. If so you could have any of the above mentioned issues and if resolving this is too hard contact us
- Quality routers provide things like Quality of Service, Multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) and beamforming, refer to your routers guide or use a site like PDF MANUALS
- Faults can exist in the network infrastructure that feeds the internet connection to your house, try isolating your wireless connection with a ethernet cord directly into a laptop or desktop. If the results are the same try contacting your ISP to see if your service is faulty.
